pre-breeze everyone on split.
don't get snared.
watch the radar for collapses. (your main team needs to call this too)
collapse on their main team when you can't do anything on split and you know their defense can't reach the main team on time, split as soon as their defense arrives at the main team again.

Never stop asking yourself if you're accomplishing anything. If the answer is no, do something about it instead of keeping on with doing nothing useful.
If you're on a split and they have their runner back to defend you're obviously not going to kill anything. But is it then useful for your team to sacrifice your damage for their partyhealing? The answer varies and you need to communicate with your team and think for yourself to figure it out all the time.
Apart from that. Seriously, learn to dodge.
Run around in circles with people throwing projectiles at you till you can always dodge pin down from archers and whatever random projectiles are in the metagame. There's no excuse for eating those when you're splitting.

When you look at the meta, the split ele maybe the most vulnerable.
Learn what you can handle and what you cannot and act accordingly. The ele, especially the ele, must always be on the look out.

the above advice is all pretty good. Playing split ele (or ranger, or any character who is mobility-based) is 90% map awareness. You need to know everything that is going on around the map at all times, if your teammates aren't telling you, ask them. then ask them again. keep asking until they start telling you by habit to shut you up. Then learn what to do with said information and you're all set to win some gold capes
PM "Broken Ftw" he'll tell you all about it
